At Hired After Bars, we strive to create a world where past mistakes do not define one’s future. We believe every individual deserves opportunities for growth after incarceration—especially through employment, while working to reduce recidivism (the tendency of a person who has been incarcerated to reoffend and return to the criminal justice system).
Three of my six siblings: 3 have been incarcerated at different points in their lives. Growing up watching them, I saw how hard it was for them to rebuild their lives and find employment.
Hired After Bars was born from these experiences.
We advance policies that expand opportunities for individuals both during incarceration and after incarceration. Our work focuses on advancing solutions that strengthen pathways to employment, economic stability, and successful reintegration.
Our donation initiatives provide essential resources that support confidence and stability after incarceration. Through contributions, we distribute career ready clothing, hygiene kits, and professional supplies to help individuals prepare for employment and reentry.
Our programs connect justice impacted individuals with employment opportunities and support networks. Through employer partnerships, events, and community initiatives we aim to create opportunities for successful reintegration.
Hired After Bars has grown to 25 cities across 5 countries and 3 continents, creating a global network that connected formerly incarcerated individuals to employment opportunities and resources.
We’ve authored one bill and are developing additional legislation to expand opportunities for justice impacted individuals.
We’ve collected over $6,000 in grants to support programs for justice impacted individuals.
We partner with employers to provide second chance employment opportunities for justice impacted individuals.
We connected justice impacted individuals with professionals in various fields to learn about careers and gain insight into job opportunities.
Hired After Bars has donated over $30,000 in niceties, including professional clothing, hygiene products, and career ready accessories. These donations come from clothes from closets and funding provided by our generous funders.
